Very specific California carb & EVAP question with photo
Hi All,
After performing PAIRectomy, TPS mod, new plugs, installing OEM exhaust (goodbye 2Bros), and 8541Hawk's carb setup, I decided to rip out the CA EVAP stuff as well. It's a snarling $h!tstorm of tubes in there!
A. The two separate CA Carburetor Air Vent (CAV) and CA EVAP PURGE control valves are gone along with the EVAP canister.
B. The fuel tank breather tube was removed from the CA EVAP canister and re-routed with tank drain tube. No PVLIR issues
C. PAIR vacuum line and CA PURGE vacuum line have been capped on the front carb (see 2 black caps on front carb in photo below).
------------
My question is for Hose #5's spot, left of photo, you can see here I've put a big cap on the tee fitting. Should that vent to air? It goes to the CA CAV Purge valve.
Based on page 1-29 & 1-32 of the manual, and using my limited knowledge of this system, it appears that the Purge control valve uses vacuum power from front carb to allow fumes from evap canister and vented fumes from hose(s) #6 to then re-inject into the air-fuel mix. If this is correct, not capping it may cause unfiltered air to get into intake system.
Please someone let me know if I am off base or just dead wrong here.
------------
Tomorrow morning I'll finish up the "under seat sync" extension and get her running again.
Thanks for your time.
Oh and P.S. Should I use clamps in addition to the tight fitting rubber caps?
