Valve timings

So i came a cropper of the CCT failure again!!! and decided to get some APE's

So this morning i tried to hand turn the engine over to put the front in to TDC and heard a "klink klink"...crap

I put the APE in the front cylinder and and then hand turned over the engine and felt smooth but just stopped at one point.

I assume that the "klink" noise i heard was the cam chain skipping teeth on the cam cogs

I guess it's possible to check the valve timings of the fron cylinder with out dropping the engne out, but how much of a PITA is it?

It's not too bad. I assume you already have access the the front CCT. Then the oil cooler needs to move. And I think it helps to remove the left radiator. Which means draining some coolant and the fairings have to come off too. Then it's just a matter of working in a cramped space.

Yea i have the tank and airbox off to get to the front CCT allready, dosent sound to bad then, i thought it might be a case of moving the oil cooler and taking the fairings off. Thanks

Fairings need to come off, oil cooler moves ahead. I did mine without removing any radiators.

Well i got it sorted today, had to get a bit of help with sorting the timing.

Tomorrow i'll put the front cover on, bolt back the oil cooler and radiator (neither of them i had to reove, just un-bolted and moved) fairing and tank and fire her up
