Valve adjustments.

I dont know if the previous owner did one, kinda doubt it. The bike is running like a beast and I dont really want to fix whats not broken. Should I get one done even if the bike is running great? Almost 20k miles on the bike.

If I do need to do one about how much would it cost? There are no plastics on the bike so everything should be easy to get to.

Its really easy if you wanna check the valves yourself. If they are in spec, bolt your valve cover back up and keep riding.

+1 Shim type adjustment maintains correct valve lash for a long time.

Can I find out how to do this in the manual? If not I dont need a detailed how to, but a brief rundown on what to do would be helpful.

Thanks fellas,
Rudy

Search other threads on valve adjustment. I outlined the step by step procedure on another thread a month or so ago, or check the manual. If you are good with a feeler gauge, you can do it. Checking is pretty simple, actual adjustment requires removal of the cams to swap shims.

Just checking the valves is not that big of a deal if you are somewhat mechanical. If you need to adjust them, that takes a little more. It is still not that bad compared to an I-4. Read through the how to threads, then if you have any questions just shoot some out.
