trip meter stuck

I have a 99 that has the trip meter stuck in my odometer display. Is this common with age?

Im the original owner.. I use the trip as my poor mans fuel gage (along with the low fuel lamp) and it wont reset or switch back to the odo.. grrrr.

Any tricks to solve. I presume the contacts on the button are corroded(?).

Is it still counting up miles? If it is, I think your presumption is correct about corroded contacts.

That would require disassembling the cluster and getting in there with contact cleaner. Don't use carb spray. You can buy contact cleaner at Radio Shack or similar stores.

Yes, its still counting miles ok. I figured I'd just tear into it and use some contact cleaner. I just wondered if its been experienced by others. For the last year, Ive had to push the button harder than normal to get it to cycle through the two meters so I'm sure it just needs some tlc. I guess the tears have caught up to it even though it always garaged and covered. thx
