TPS - No reading ???

How would a hawk run if the TPS was not working. I have tried to measure my settings but get NO readings at all. No volts or ohms. The meter is working ok. The bike runs sweet. Whats going on.

It wouldn't run much differently at all. Did you measure resistance at the correct terminals per the Service Manual?

I followed the service manual and even checked both ends of the TPS plug - nothing. Did the unplug replug at 3500 revs. No difference. I tried to check the readings at the ICM. The manual seems to show it located under the seat near the back of the gas tank. My bike (2001) has nothing like it. Just a bunch of electrical connections in a clear plastic cover ?? Where else would it be. Thanx.

You have to read off the 2 little spade contacts recessed in the TPS itself. It is difficult to maintain good connections while turning the TPS (i.e., grind slots in the tamperproof screw heads with a dremel tool). I replaced the oem screws with appropriate hex head cap screws and fabricated a plug that fit the TPS. Alternatively, you can crimp on a t-tap to the insulated wires that connect to the TPS and read with your ohm meter (with ignition obviously off) thru the t-taps. Then seal the t-taps with dielectric grease.

On my '03 the ICM is under the seat but over on the left side between the seat rail and the tail plastic, just about right above the rear axle.
