tachometer wiring

Then you can either read the manual that came with it, or/and tell us which one it is, and it's possible we migth be able to help... But with the current amount of info my best advice is.... Eh.... Good luck!....

Um... green wire to coil as in the signal for the coil then... Not really the tacho signal then... So if you have it wired at the plug up front, it probably won't work...
Not sure where you did wire it though, so I'm guessing...

i pulled the guage cluster and wired the new tach off the leads that went to the old one as they were labeled off the back of the cluster assming the yell/grn wire which was the only unlabeld one was the said signal from the coil.... was that assumption wrong? if so where would i find the appropriate wire?

That wire is indeed the tacho signal wire for the stock cluster... But that's not the same as coils unfortunately... The tacho signal is 5V, the coil signal is not 5V... Hence no movement...
The coil signal is down the frame towards the coils, yellow/blue for one and blue/yellow for the other... Have a look here... It should help some...

okay that is an illustration of what i already understood... why does that yellow green wire not work? are you suggesting i connect to the wires between the coils and the ignition cont unit? im lost brother.. why would this be sofa king complicated

The wire you are using now goes 0-5-0-5-0-5... The other goes 12-0-12-0-12-0-12... The tacho is nearsighted and doesn't see stuff smaller than 11...
Doeas that help yer thinking parts...
Yes, the two wires between coils and ignition unit... just pick one of them...
