Not a problem I have heard of. Occasionally the starter clutch will malfunction, but it is not a common fault.

I just recently had this issue (motor was whinning when tryin to start), i replaced my s clutch thinking it was the problem. I havent pulled them out yet to check but im 100% positive they have. I ordered mine today from our local bike shop cost me 120. Also going to replace cct's considering u have to remove the cam sprockets and guide to get em out! Hope this helps!
