speedo adjusting with sprockets

It's been a while since I last looked at some but I think they are right around $100. Just do a google search, you should be find some. Or ebay.
The speedometer is going to be off no matter what you do, even with stock gearing it will read a little high. Any change in sprockets is going to change the percentage the speedo is off by. Most people gear it down (smaller front or bigger back) and the speedo gets worse. A few people may gear it up, then you might actually be pretty close to actual speed. But there is no good reason to gear up most bikes.

installed the speedohealer today, it was just about the easiest thing ive even put on a bike. and even easier to calibrate it. my bike has -1 +2 sprockets with 520 conversion but the speedo is spot on now.

right on glad to hear it. im just looking to pic up a little go. nothign too serious but something to give me a small edge over the bikes that i run neck to neck with. if i go -1 +2 do i have to adjust the chain at all or will the stock length fit?
oh and the cold weather makes this thing a freakin wheelie machine. it had the ability to do it with no issues before but tonites cool air was something else. were probably in the mid 60's right now and it just stands. first gear slow speed rolls i blip the throttle and shes right up. even had it come up as i was hammering a straight through the higher end of second and found an elevation drop. bike followed it but the front came up.

Before I spent money on a new chain and sprockets I tried just dropping the front by 1 to a 15. Made a surprising difference for short money (less than $30).

I went to 15/43 and its been good for me except for one problem, i.e., the rear vortex sprocket. Too soft. I recommend trying something else like AFAM or Supersprox as these two were suggested by Hawkrider and I'm sure they will be tougher than the whimpy Vortex.

Good to hear thanks guys. I have a -2 +1 on my quad and it made a huge difference but almost feels like I've given up my 5th gear when were going between trails. But the difference was crazy.
Guess ill add this to my winter list of things. Lol. Come out in the new year with a whole new machine by the looks of it. Lol.

I'm not sure where the vtr gets it speed from. But from what I've read most bikes get the speed from the front sprocket. So the sprocket spins faster but the back tire stays the same speed.
