Unhappy REBILD GONE WRONG>

allright dudes,

wonder if any one can help, well i bloody hope they can lol.

basicaly ive just done some work

Both CCT's, Retimed front cam

OIL and Oil filter

Collant change

Sparkplugs

Cleaned air filter

various other little things too.

built it back up with the hope of going out on it as its been nice.

then came the problems, first time it wouldnt go above 3,000 rpm with out cutting out.

left it a few hours as i think i fludded it.

started her up boom shes fine fires up like a good en.

warm her up.

then got took it for a test on estate, felt like that snap of tourqe wasnt there that i was used to..... humm came back to house

then after more starting trouble fired up and ran fine again?

ive spoken to a guy that used to race a firestorm on phone, explained to him what its doing.

that>

i went for a ride after a mile or so got trouble, felt like the bike was fighting against me and firing on one cylinder was very hard to ride back home.

im thinking now it could either be that the carbs need syncing up correctly, or that there is a fuel line that has some pressure on it under the tank

at low rpm when the carb is full its okay.

problems happen when the revs increased and i think it may be drinking the fuel from one carb quicker than it is filling it up, crating the struggling on off cylinder.

all my pipes have been put back where they should have been, but i will take tank off and see if a furl line is being crimped by something restricting the flow.

another possibility is the coil.

has any one replaced a coil on the firestorm, if so how much are they?

any one had similar trouble to this?

i dont think its the timing as it turns over okay.

im going to ring a mobile mechanic ive been given the number for but this was my last resort as i cant afford any bills to be honest hence me trying everything my self.

thanks for any help in advance

Easiest thing to check is: "PLVIR"

That is: Petcock Vacuum Line Inadvertent Relocation.

The small vacuum line to the petcock goes to the back of the petcock, and the nipple on the bottom (that looks like where the vacuum line should go) should actually have NOTHING attached to it.

I would say to start by pulling the tank and checking that the hoses are routed correctly. 1 time I swapped two hoses that attach to the fuel tank, and I had a similar result.

Here's a reference pic I took to avoid your problem after once previously getting hoses mixed up

have fun!

If the petcock fails,
check your plugs ( the misfiring cyl may show on the plug color), maybe the wrong number, bad contact, remove and re insert the plug boots, check for spark jumping out to the chassis from a damaged wire, pinched fuel hose, stuck CV slide from debris.

Leaking carb diaphragms can cause the bike to run poorly around 3500 rpms and higher.

Could you possibly have washed the bike with a hose or allowed it to get rained on?
I have discovered the fuel system can get water in it while sitting static and getting drenched. No problem riding in the rain, but--
Open the drains on the bottoms of the fuel bowls one at the time and catch what comes out with a paper towel. Analise your catch.
My front fuel bowl was holding water which the gas floated on, ran great until you goosed it and it would draw water an sputter. Finally ran thru and problem disappeared.
One of many possibilities. Good luck!

< Petcock Vacuum Line Inadvertent Relocation >

That made me LOL. I took EXTRA care to put everything back in the correct location, started it up and it ran great. Left the driveway and as soon as I wacked the throttle it bogged terribly and eventually died. Had to push it up the driveway. Yah, it was the Petcock Vacuum Line Inadvertent Relocation.

Sounds like the fuel tank breather is blocked.

it could also be one of the cams off timing, I know you said you retimed the front cam, but it might be worth it to have another look if you can't find the problem elsewhere. I know after I did my cct's I messed up the front so when I retimed it I accidently lined it up on the wrong marks, it would start, but it ran very much like you are describing. So I re-checked hit myself in forehead and fixed it then it ran like a champ again.

I have also replaced coils, about $80 each over here. Before replacement, one cylinder would drop out under any more than very light acceleration, feels like a loss of fuel but instead was a loss of spark. The manual covers how to test the coil with a multimeter, just be sure to check both primary and secondary windings as the first time I checked only the primary and continued on in my search for my problem only to have to come back to it in frustration a week later aarg it was the secondary that was out of spec.
