rear wheel removal--no stand!

I need to take my rear wheel in to shop to install a new tire. Any ideas how I can pull this off without a stand. Any input would be great.

do you have a bottle jack? or any automotive jack will work really, then just use some stands. if you dont have stands, 2x6s work too.

Good for swingarms, shocks and linkages. I've heard of step ladders working at supporting the weight of the bike.

Just buy a rear wheel stand... it's not like you'll only use it once.

harbor freight has a rear stand for about $40 it looks cheap but it supports a super hawk just fine and is great for sprocket changes, chain lube and taking of the rear wheel.

+1 on the harbor freight stand. It works just fine and the price is right. google search and you can usually get a 20% off coupon.

I used a floor jack under the motor and 2 jack stands to support the engine case side to side when I had to swap shocks last month. it worked, but not near as stable to rip off a wheel/tire as a swingarm stand is.

Thanks for the advice guys. When I was at the store buying the tire, they had a deal on a stand that lifts at the swingarm. Like you said I will get good use out of it.

Sure beats buying fairings, mirrors, mufflers or whatever else it breaks when it falls over.
