R/R - Stator & battery diganosis.

So I got my R/R swapped out with a mosfet one. (from a zx10)

And it works, I now at idle get 13.4V etc and it seems to behave just fine when a voltmeter is attached.

However I went on a test ride and I still got a flickering dash.

So is it just that my battery is toast (I expect it is) or should the R/R keep this from happening when the bike is running?

Or perhaps my stator is iffy?

did you completely drain your battery? if so it may be trashed.

Oh I am sure the battery is trashed, it sat at ~9v for a long time.

I am just wondering if that alone is enough to cause the dash flicker while riding. (given a good R/R & stator)

i know that with my srad the gauges would die til i got to a high enough rpm (5K). turns out what i thought was a bad RR turned out to be a bad stator. its easy to check the stator. just ohm out the 3 phases and see if they are in spec. one of my phases were out by .1 ohms. put a new stator had no problems after that.

Ok, it was just the battery.. Got that swapped and with the new R/R all is happy.

The old battery had two bulging cells LOL.. I really abused that thing.
