need help

I recently aquired a 98 superhawk. Shortly after purchase I started feeling more vibration than normal (around my feet mostly) and hearing a lot of noise from the crankcase. Oil was a little low but I filled it and the noise and vibrations continued. I'm not familiar with these bikes, and being an older bike is it normal for them to make a lot of noise? I can year it over the exhaust and I have LOUD two brothers racing pipes so its not like the thing is quiet LOL. Not sure how to describe it other than kind of a knocking noise. Not during idle. Mostly at the lower end of gears. And while I'm shifting through gears. Any info would be helpfully. Thnx alot

The first thing I would do would be to drain your oil and change the filter. I would also run a little magnet through it to see if it picks up metal chunks.
