Need a fork setup!!! Please!!!

Hey guys...I am new to the forum. I just wrecked my '98 yesterday. I took it apart today to assess the damage and I found that I need a front end fork setup...(upper and lower triple clamps, forks and axle). My wheel and brakes are fine. I also am looking for a shifter, clutch lever and reservoir. If you have these items please let me know what you want for them. I'm located in Los Angeles. Thanks, Ben

Also...I was wondering if any other front ends will work correctly on this bike, perhaps from a RC51 or a CBR. thanks again....

go for a 929 or 954 setup. either that or someone on here might have the stock setup. I believe superbling is selling his f4i forks still

Actually the RC51 is the most direct fit as far as the usd forks are concerned. I got your pm before I just didn't have a chance to call but I sold my forks already but I do have the triples, axle and right clip-on. I just sold the left clip last week. There's a few threads on here about which front ends work and how much is involved to get them to work correctly. As I said the RC51 front end is the easiest for usd but you do have to get all the parts, forks, triples, head bearings, fender, wheel, and brakes.

I've checked with local salvage yards and no one has a superhawk setup, or an RC51 for that matter. So if I check on 929 or 954, what all do I need to get? Can I use my stock wheel and brakes? The wheel appears to be fine. I believe the only damage is to the actual fork tubes. They appear slightly bent at the lower triple. I really appreciate the help. Let me know....Ben

No you would need everything. There's good info here and if you do a search you can find more.

The reason the RC front works better is the forks are the same length so you can mount the clip ons above the upper triple. With the others the best way is helibars under the triple which adds more $ to the equation.

Thanks a ton, man. I emailed the guy on ebay and hopefully he'll write me back. If everything is kosher and I can get them without breaking the bank I will definitely be interested in those triples you have. I'll keep looking around here and on the internet though. I think for now, a stock setup is what I will stick with. The mods can come later. This is my only form of transportation so I need to get her fixed asap. If you pass by anything else let me know. Thanks-Ben

Well...I tried working my butt off so I could but those forks on ebay... unfortunately someone bought them before I could get 'em. So I'm still looking for the stock forks for the bike. If anyone has come across anything recently please let me know. Thanks a bunch.

These should work for ya. Anyone else know for sure? The only thing I'm not sure of is the fender mounts.

If I get these, do you have any idea if my stock wheel and brake setup is a direct fit? Oh, and just so you know... I really do appreciate all the help you've been giving me. I'd be running pretty blind right now to thanks again. I'm not too worried about the fender ( if I have to use a VFR fender I won't be too upset. I can always customize it ).

No problem. I'm 99.95% sure that the brakes and wheel are a direct fit I know superbling used a VFR wheel on his, just not sure of the year. I'll look into it some more but like I said I'm fairly confident it's a direct fit.

I'm more sure of these, the F4i ones would need new clip-ons but the rest is direct fit and superbling has a post on what's involved. These are better quality forks than the VTR forks with more adjustment and 43mm instead of 41mm which is why you need new clip-ons.

I'm more sure of this year vfr.
