ignition breaking up...HELP!!!
Hey guys...i have this issue with my 2000 vtr. the bike seems to have developed a running issue and i have narrowed it down to be ignition related. if i can get the bike running descent long enough, i do the alternator/charging system test as described in the factory service manual and it is not charging. the test led me to the rectifier/regulator. i don't have an issue replacing this but if i do, i still don't think it will resolve my ignition breaking up issue that i have while running the bike. does anyone know if there are any "normal" issues with these machines that occur after some time? could it still be a stator or could the rectifier/regulator cure this condition as well as the charging issue i had.
i am at my wits end with this and would greatly appreciate any information or help in this matter.

Its a R/R / stator issue only when theres a short circuit dropping the voltage.
Otherwise the bike will run fine with these parts removed.
Disconnect your R/R plug and then test run the engine.
also unplug the 3 wire stator plug to isolate that component as well.

thanks circuit burner...i appreciate the response and info. do you think the R/R could be the only cause of this problem or do you think that i might still have a stator issue? would you have any links or information on who to call to get either one of those parts? i can go to honda but i am also looking to save some $$$. hell, 9 year old bike with 15, 000 miles on it and this is the first real issue i had with it.
i'll do what you mentioned tonight and let you know the results of it.

cool. I will check back tonite.
Test stator with this test-plan www.motovoltage.com/tech.htm
Stators are pretty tough, and not very sensitive, but always start there in your troubleshooting procedure.
