title says it all...what would you guys consider reasonable to do this in terms of hours or total money?

@ the people who tend to say "just do it yourself, it is easy"...I might, but I have a number of projects on the go and I like the bike to 'just go', so taking into account cost before deciding what to do.

Edit: *valve adjustment

$500 - $600 Might save yourself some wonga by taking your fairing off yourself and refitting it afterwards.

The dynojet and valve adjustments will cost you the most but if you are doing ccts its best to do them all at the same time while you have the bike apart.

Well the cost will directly related to whatever the shop rate is but Wicky is in the ball park as you are looking at 5-6 hr for the job.

Also this for base lining the carbs as they might need to be removed a few times to actually get them dialed in.

Hey Blamecanada. I talk with you more about it on Sunday.

But I would be happy to do any Carb work you needed for a six pack. I have all the tools at my house here in LA. I have taken the carbs off from Superhawks many many times. Once you have done it, your see how easy it is.

I have not done the CCT thing before, maybe someone here in Socal can offer to assist on that one.

I live close to LAX.

I did all that to my bike.....you won't regret it.

If you're around the Central California Coast we can do that. It will take a few hours...unless a valve is out....then add 2 more.
How many miles on your Hawk?

I had to bench my carbs twice -and play with the needles 3 times to get it perfect. As posted by the gurus above, you can get it close the first time.

a friend that owns his own shop said he would do it all for 250 bucks, thats why I was asking...normally I work on my own stuff but I have a project car to finish and a track car to repair...spare time has been heading that direction lately.

also bikes are new to me and so far my hawk has been the one vehicle I have that "just goes" and provides enjoyment, no issues...I wouldn't wanna mess something up.

I bought the bike with 12000 miles on it about 4 months ago and it has 20000 on it now (I know, past the 16000 interval, putting on my flame suit now).

Any particular reason you want to install the dynojet kit?

You could save yourself $100 by just tweaking the stock set up a little and get just as good if not better results....

I have a leaky pipe that I want to keep because I like the sound of the exhaust in general but it makes the bike run like **** (too lean, flat spots). Also I already bought it on recommendation from a friend, probably a good reason to go ahead and install it.

I gotta get some vacuum caps and stuff too hopefully ditch the stupid PAIR system, getting tired of the popping on decel. A little characteristic popping on decel is cool, gives the bike some flavor...but it's like a consistently spaced out "pop..pop..pop..pop"...annoying.

8541Hawk has a point.

I run a Dynojet and it runs well- but it was a pain to get it perfect.
if I can do it over again, I would go Factory Pro as there is no drilling the slides or changing springs.

In Dynojets defense, my throttle response is as fast as a fuel injected bike with the extra lift hole and weak springs. I think they take too much work for perfection though.

I am running the Yosh Ti Lowmount exhaust and 180/185 Jets w/needles near the 5th notch and not the 4th as Dynojet suggests. stock pilots, mixture screw at 2.5t out. Every exhaust set-up is going to be different with that jet kit.

While your delving deeply into the bike's innards, fit an adaptor plug (see pic) to replace the blanking bolt into the front cylinder to run a vacuum hose for easy carb balancing.

It should be a Ca bike which means it comes with that fitting already installed....

Either U keep your VTR immaculate or its a low miler & garage kept, cuz it looks so clean & new under the carbs. Or being in the UK, maybe all the rain keeps it clean...
