fuel starvation
Just checking for ideas here but:
Got my bike back from the paint shop yesterday. I was pulling out into the road and it died. I rolled it back over and we checked the fuel cutoff under the tank. We noticed a vaccum line off and reattached it. Without this it would not allow fuel out of the lines. It started up and idled perfect after that but about 8 miles later on the way home it started to sputter. If I give her full throttle it clears up slowly. The only thing that I can think of is a vaccum line or something that could be clogged.
I would take it back to the body shop but if it is simple I would rather do it myself. I do not have much faith in there ability to diagnose mechanical issues.
What do you think?? It would have to be something around the tank or fairings that they took off.....

to where did you reattach it??? common mistake is to look under tank and see the hose attachment stem pointing straight down or perpendicular to the tank bottom. This is not the correct attachment point for the vacuum line that travels along the left side with the left side fuel line. the correct connect point is difficult to see and is located on the left side of the petcock parallel to the tank bootom.

You know, this thread made me go check on my petcock, and the vacuum line was on the wrong spot. Then I decided I may as well check my diaphragm while I was there, and I think I dropped something! Is there a diaphragm spring that I dropped? It seems like there should be...

when I put my tank back on after jetting the carbs, I had put the hoses on wrong and the bike did not run at all, I wasn't getting any fuel at all, but luckily one of my friends figured it out pretty quick.
