Factorypro 4 degree ignition advancer
I picked up a "wreck" that supposedly has the Factorypro 4 degree ignition advancer installed. Based on my experiences with POs, I want to ensure that it was installed properly. Can one of you please give me the basics on this installation? Where does it go, how does it get there, what stock part does it replace if any?
This is our summer project, $1,100 with a brand new Ohlins on it, I figured that it was a pretty good deal. Thank you.

im interested in this too, also im wondering if gains are seen just by throwing this in? i have a 6 degree timing advance key on my sport quad and i hate it. it feels like its lost its bottom end and mid range, might have gained a little top end but not worth the work.

a little advance down low gets the motor to accelerate a little quicker. It also can be a little dirtier as sometimes the advance does not allow all the fuel to burn so lots of mfrs have the ignition retarded a little too much down low so it produces less emissions.
The advancer is the gold bit to the right of the clutch basket.

Here is a thread I started the other year when I reviewed my Factory Pro 4 degree ignition advance which was installed on my VTR996: https://www.superhawkforum.com/forum...ad.php?t=14246
The point here in particular is to make note of the picture comparisons I put up - so look closely at what you have in there [in your engine.]

I was advised against using it with my high compression engine. I omitted it when I rebuilt with the JE's and lightened the flywheel. I'm very happy with how it's running without it. Doesn't seem to be necessary.
It did, however, make a noticeable improvement with a nearly stock motor. I recommend it.
