exhaust cutting questions
Was thinking of cutting the devil high mounts on the Hawk a little shorter. I have read some threads on the process but am unsure of A few things. Where is high temp silicone being used? There is a ring with rivets on the devils but i am not sure if there is an insert or what happens when I drill those out. Anybody with any knowledge on the devils would be greatly appreciated.

when you drill those out then the cap is just stuck in the canister, inside that is the (steel) mesh that holds the baffling. It may be welded to ether the front or the back (usually front).
Its pretty straightforward. There may be sealant so you have to carefully slice it away but it may not be present.
Be aware that the it may need repacking depending on age and regardless that stuff is very irritating so wear gloves and long sleeves after the drilling part.
From there its just (carefully) cut and reassemble. I find that putting a stainless hose clamp around the can as a guide creates a perfectly square and straight cut. Then just drill and re-rivet. (not steel rivets that rust)

My job requires work with fiberglass roofing insulation so I know the suck factor of fiberglass lol. I figured the sealant was just around the end cap and we have high temp sealant at work do that works. Sounds pretty straight forward so we will see how it goes. If I can ever get on my woman's computer ill put up some pics. Stainless steel rivets are what I have. No titanium lol

Yeah I spent years in construction but somehow, I ALWAYS forget that the piddly little bit of muffler insulation can really be a menace.
I guess because its so small but it is WAY worse than the owens corning stuff. They have to be friendly to consumers. Not the muffler folk.
