Elevation and how it plays a role in performance? Anyone?

Ok, so after moving from North Dallas area 3 weeks ago, to the Charlotte area, I am now up at around 780 ft, I know that is not a great deal of elevation, but a big change for the hawk... I notice that when I have her on full choke she sounds normal, but if I go to half choke she sounds bogged down...
Do I need to perform any kind of fine tuning here? I don't know much about doing that kind of stuff, it was a big step for me to change the oil, and the idle speed....lol....any input would be great....

Also, I guess I may need to look at running a different weight of oil, as it is not as hot here....Any suggestions, as well as going into the winter....TIA

you may need to change the main jets but you would think it would run funny while youre ridding it not just at idle?

what pipes are you running? and is it jetted? I am in fayetteville NC..I have a k&n filter, jardine high mounts (race baffles), dyno jet kit ..needles set a one clip from bottom of needle, 185/190 jets but I think its a little rich so I am going to get 182 front and 185 rear.

You would think I would know, but I am second owner, I know it has jet kit, but don't know anything about it... 2Bro slip ons....

And it seems to run ok, I haven't noticed any issues running...

Call Jamie Jolley at "Factory Service". One of the best guys in this area(Charlotte/Rockhill) his # is 803-417-6563. He is good at making your bike run the way you like it. No BS. Just good work.
Let me know if you need a riding partner in the Charlotte area. I live about four miles from the center of Charlotte. 10W40Honda on the oil here.

Cool, I will give him a shout sometime this week.... is Factory Service the name of the shop/business?

I use mobil one gold cap now, and have been very happy with it. I will look at the weight as I am sure they have it in a 10W40, in fact that may be what I am running now...

yeah, once I get things more settled here we can get together for a ride...

Thanks for the info...

I moved from Phoenix to Dallas 1100' to 650' and did not notice a difference. My hawk is stock though. Way back in the 80's I rode a 900 Ninja in NM anywhere from 5200' to 10000' and there you really noticed the elevation. Bike was slow going up but screamed comming down.

That change in elevation won't make any noticable difference. A half a mile or so and you'll notice a little. A mile and you'll need to rejet.

You know there is a jet in between 185 and 190, right? It's 188. I'd swap the 190 out for the 188 and try that. If still too rich then try the 182/185.
