Electrical Power Loss

Electrical Power Loss
Hey everyone, I replaced my R/R with a new Mosfet unit, and I replaced the battery with a brand new one with that new R/R.
I had this same issue before replacing the R/R but its starting to happen more often and it seems to happen randomly. Shaking or pulling/tugging on all wires does not seem to reproduce the issue.
The problem is:
If I am stopped at a red light, holding in the clutch the bike will shut off and all power is lost. Dash lights shut off, then comes back. While the lights are off on the dash I can not start the bike using the electrical start.
This has also happened to me while driving, however when this happens I hear a backfire, look down lights off and come right back on and keeps going. This has happened to me in a (VERY SLOW) turn where the real wheel locked up momentarily (it couldn't pass compression because I was < 10mph in first or second ) and I pulled the clutch lever and coasted until lights came back on to restart it.
The lights usually shut off for a few seconds at a time. Last time I went on a 40 mile round trip to go shooting, after I got off the highway near my destination after about 18 miles and it shut off 3 times at one light, and then had no issues driving home.
Does anyone have any idea of what could be causing this?
As said I have tried pulling, tugging, wiggling all wires near the dash, handlebars and under the seat and have been unable to replicate this.

Thanks for the quick response, it may be the ignition switch/cylinder. I noticed (only 1 time) when I turn the key to lock it, it clicks into lock position, then can click once more and if I recall correctly I noticed the bike get power to dash after turning to that second click. It only happened once though, maybe a sign?
Do you know where I could get a shop manual to go through proper diagnosis on it?

Ok, so I checked for continuity at the plug for the 3 wires. I have continuity across all 3 for the ignition switch/cylinder. I'll check the stator but that shouldn't cause all power to be lost if the battery has juice.
I did clean the connector up a little, the white protective gel they used was dry and partly turning green so scrubbed it up and used new grease.

i wouldn't doubt the plug for the ign but the electrical switch inside the ign...... the contacts may be on the *****. or as simple as bad contacts inside the right controls at the kill switch.
it could be one of many other things but those are relatively easy to check and 100% could cause an intermittent shut off situation.
