Clutch Replacement..

Hey all, was curious if anyone has had any experience replacing the clutch themselves, mine is toast. It is rideable, but it will not do wheelies and there is a lot of play in the clutch lever ( Must let it out all the way before it starts to go) Im pretty sure its the clutch but could be wrong if anyone else has had the same problem...thanks

Changed mine, was easy. The hydraulic clutch engages at the end of the lever anyway. I believe there is a spec for the clutch plate thickness too, just have to replace the side cover gasket but if your going to the trouble to check it, just replace it.
But Id bleed your clutch first... theres another thread on this and I think someone said to bleed it 2-3 times... Try a set of Barnett springs too, I didnt notice much difference in lever pull difficulty but it doesnt slip or hasnt.

Get or download the manual. Other than having to drain the coolant, it's a pretty straight forward operation if you are only changing out plates/discs/and springs.

One word of warning: be very careful installing the engine cover as the waterpump shaft must seat properly or you can break it off. BTDT. Don't forget a new gasket for the engine cover.

Yes, that too and oh, loosen and tighten the 6 bolts that retain the clutch a few turns each at time, dont take each one out completely in one shot or you could cause damage to the cover from the uneven spring load on the basket cover.

Ive been getting prices from this web site. I should get a royalty for plugging them so much! lol
