Carbs on a angle? DO I FEEL DUMB!

oh yeah! don't worry about feeling dumb, your feelings are likely accurate. The reality of it is that were all pretty dumb, it just that most of us don't know it.
thanks, Nathan

Ive had my carbs on and off at least 50 times in the past few weeks.
I keep the carb boots attached to the heads. Put the front carb throught in the front boot.
Push the assembly as a whole forward a tad, 1/4 inch at most.
Then push the rear carb down. Pushing it forward lines up the angled boots.

well Ive had the bike together and apart about 5 times so far.
Im building my aluminum airbox so Ive been taking them on and off alot.
but ive got 2 sets of carbs.
Also Ive got to remove the carbs to attach or remove my subframe.

It takes me hours just to get the carbs off and on. I better start taking **** off and putting it back on again, but not now, cause it's supposed to get into the high 50's tomorrow and i need to roll.

The first time I pulled the carbs on the VTR took me an hour or two. Now I can change out jets and/or needles and have it back together usually within the hour, start to finish. I will say the VTR is easier, although more complicated, than the VTX which took me to school tonight because an extra 1" of tubing would have just been TOO much for the factory to put on so you could re-attach the airbox easier...
