Carb removal tricks?

Well I'm tearing the bike apart. Sure enough there's slack in the front cam chain. Now I'm trying to pull the carbs. I loosened the clamps, but they still seem stuck. Is this just a brute force thing where I just pry them off?

you can use a hair dryer to heat up the carb boots, softening them helps. But otherwise just grab one top in each hand and give them a big heave to the left or right until they give free.

Thanks, that's kind of what I suspected. Those should be fun to get back on...
