Bad tach?

A while back I was riding my bike and my R/R went bad. My battery boiled over. my headlights burnt out, and my tach quit working. In the usual case would anyone belive for my tach to be done for good? my speedo and other control lights still work.

Replacing the R/R with an R1 unit.

I wouldn't figure the tach was shot, but I guess the surge could've screwed up the circuitry.

Are you gonna replace the R/R with the stock Honda part? I have charging problems, and my stator tested good so I bought an R1 R/R on ebay, and will convert it to that more robust unit when it gets here. Here's the procedure:
