Bad CCT
I bought the MCCT's from Superdutyd and began installing them, rear being the first. That went well, finger tight and cinch the lock nut. Rotated the crank a few time to make sure and moved on to the front. Ah, so easy to access too. Removed the bolts and pulled up on it but didn't budge and pulled harder and harder. Finally it came out -------- in pieces!!!!!!! All the parts of it intact but now separated because the retaining ring spring thingy caught the inner edge of the hole and pulled out of the groove it rests in. Now, why would it be that way? Because it must have been faulty from manufacture and didn't seat completely in the groove. I installed the new PERFECT one and moved to the bench to check this Honda failure out. All the parts were fine and new looking and the spring is fine. The retaining ring is slightly distorted of course but I had to put it all back together just to see if it was ok and it is. I must have wrapped the spring 1 revolution more than the factory because the cct has more initial tension now than the other one. So there it is, a potential catastrophy averted and no failure possible now. Thanks Superdutyd----
