Anyone have tire input???

Ok guys - let me hang the noob out just a little further...

It's time for some new tires! I've been looking around online and found a lot that I like the ideas of, but once again I'm turning to you brilliant chaps for input. I'm pretty much a commuter that likes to turn up the juice every once in a while. Basically - I need a tire that's going to get some serious miles but still be just sticky enough that I don't slide out of a corner going a little too fast. I know that's what everyone wants, but you get my drift. I don't stunt, and I generally don't fly. Any suggestions???????? Please????? Thanks in advance!

Dunlop Qualifier rear, I use Metzelers for fronts.
Cheap tire that grabs like a horny hooker and lasts like a mother in law.

I agree on the dunlop's.... I just replaced with a Pirelli Diablo's and I am not liking them , at least not yet. Qualifier's stuck good and got good mileage. Pirelli Super Corsa's got good bite but not so much for mileage.

You might be interested in this thread. I've used Bridgestones for ever and I've never been disappointed. They have decent lifespan, good grip (though some say they don't get enough feedback in corners - I'm just a simple street rider and haven't noticed), and they cost less than most.

dunlop & pirelli are very different tires...

pirelli has a softer carcass and will give the feel of moving around more ( tire flex ) where dunlop has a stiffer carcass & feels more planted. the flip side is that the dunlop can give too much feedback... you'll feel everything on the road. the pirelli mutes out some of the road surface but gives great feel of tire grip. i get the pirelli's to temp faster also.

the qualifier would be compared to the standard corsa tire.

i just pulled my pilot powers ( ~ 300 miles on them ) cause i just HATE street tires ! i know people want mileage over grip, i just go the other way.

i agree the super corsas are a great tire !

In my best Jim Mora rant adaptation:

"Tires!? You wanna talk about tires!? Tires!?"

Yep, there are no tire threads here.

I had Dunlop Qualifiers, and replaced them with Pilot Power 2CT's.. Night and day, the Pilots are SO much better.

Plus the Qualifiers wore out really fast. Not sure yet on the Power's life, though the rear is wearing down faster than I'd like.. I am thinking a Road2ct will go on the back next, with the Power2ct staying in front.

I had pilots and they were fine, so i thought. then my buddy sold me a set of diablo corsa III's that he had on the track for like 2 laps for a song. I put them on and let me tell you, WORLD OF DIFFERENCE. as far as millage goes i have about 3,000 mi on them and they are showing little wear due to the muti compound structure of the tire. anyone who is looking at tires needs to look at the perelli diablo corsa III.

FWIW i do mostly street riding and commuting and i have not had a problem

I went from the pilots to the corsa III's as well, and I would have to agree with you. I think they have much better grip and so far the rear tire seems like it's going to last longer than the pilot sport did.

I didn't like the wear of the Qualifiers, and they didn't last very long. For me Pilot Powers last longer and provide the grip I want/need with the way I ride.

If you're only wicking it up every once in a while and there's no serious knee draggin going on then Pilot Road 2's are probably the best tire for you.

Pirelli Diablo Rosso's from now on for me. I can't believe how good they are.

For the type of riding I do..... Avon's, good wear, good grip. AV/56 storms. Plus they are the same as I use on my Triumph. One less thing to remember!

I'm really liking the Michelin Pilot Road2 rear and Pilot Power 2CT front.
