Altitude Change Question

Hi,
I'm new to the forum and had a fairly quick question. I live in Littleton, Colorado at about 6000' elevation and am looking to ride to California this summer. My main concern is what things I will have to do when i get there to keep the bike riding well. Anyone have experience with this?

Thanks everyone,
Danny

hey NEW GUY

hey, yeah I've taken my back from San Diego to Chicago quite alot over the last 5 years, and never did too much adjustments. I used the Technical Manual settings for high elevations to adjust my settings, you should be able to search for the Manual using the search on the forum...lots of great info for everyone from newbie to advanced guy. Check it out, you will love it. Happy Riding!

going cross country was incredible, just dont be in a hurry and take lots of pics. First time took about a week, after that I was doing it in about three days...comfortably. Keep us informed. Good luck and happy riding.

thanks, the trip's not till august and I still don't know if i can go (work, school) but I hope I can. It sounds like it's gonna be fun. I'll be riding with my dad who's got a BMW K1200LT w/ a trailer and everything so we can even carry a gas can so we don't have to stop every 100 miles. His tank will take him around 400 to 600 miles per tank so he always because I have to stop so much.

I lived in Truckee, CA at 6,000 feet with a stock VTR and when you go to sea level your bike feels like it's on steroids. If your bike's never been rejetted for altitude, you'll be fine going to a lower elevation... even surprised...like I was after I grabbed a handful and passed a car on my rear wheel unexpectedly. Hope this helps. Cheers
