929RR Front End Swap Question.

Ok. I just fnished my 929 front end swap, tightened everything up. Went for the first test ride. Shocks feel great and so do the brakes. The only thing that is stumping me is why the whole front end that slides into the frame is sliding maybe a a quarter to a half of an inch foward.. any ideas? Different size bearings? Thanksss

Hmmm, nope same bearing sizes. Maybe you didn't torque them down to spec? Or you left one out!

Missing bearing race? I don't think I would ride far in this condition because under the the right road conditions it will shift left and right too!

We figured it out. On the stock lower tripple and axle that goes through the frame( I dont know the proper name for it) there is a space that the top bearings sit on.. the stock has a groove that the spacer sits on..and the 929 one has the same groove.. except its a little lower. So Im making a spacer tonight and Ill let you know how it works tomorrow.

Did you replace the stock Superhawk steering head bearings and races with 929 bearings and races? If you didn't, that's the problem.

SlowHAWK is an unknown quantity at this point
To me it sounds like your missing the race/cup that sits in the frame (there are 2, top and bottom).... any chance it fell out when you first removed the triple? Even with incorrect bearing/races, you shouldn't have anything close to 1/4" slop....
