2000 super hawk not fireing on front cylinder
I have a 2000 honda superhawk and i have no fire there at the front cylinder until it revs to about 4500-5000. i recently replaced the cdi and the brain box. could anyone give me some help! or tell me how to go about testing this electrical problem? ive hear of people taking the resistor out of the the spark plug cap. could that have gone bad? thanks

It is very easy to swap coils and see if problem moves to rear cylinder. I recommend swapping known good plug at same time as coil, this should rule out ignition and then move on to jetting. Also check very carefully for vacuum leaks on all vacuum lines and carb boots. Your symptoms are identical to the problem I had been chasing on my bike and it was the vacuum line to the petcock was drawing raw fuel into my rear cyl thru a failed petcock, this is specific to the rear cyl in my case.

well thanks for the input guy but my petcock is on the little nipple on the back of the petcock and the bike just aint firing at lower rpms. i checked it by pulling the plug wire and stuck the plug tester i have on it and it just aint firing until it revs up to like 4500-5000. i wasent sure if swaping the coils would hurt or not. i am going to swap them today and ill get back with you all. thanks!

well thanks for the input guys. my front coil is shot. i pulled it off like loserboy told me to and swaped it with the front and still dead but when i put the rear back on it, it fires like crazy. so problem solved. thanks!

Hey, don't forget to double check your regulator. That may have caused your coil to get fried. Test your battery voltage at higher revs, it shouldn't peak 14V or so.. Not sure exact number, but it is in the service manual!
