01 GSXR 1000 fork swap problem

Thanks to help from this forum I am getting ready to put a new front end on my SH, but I ran into a problem and want some more help. First the parts I have collected:

01 GSXR 1000 forks and axle
954/929 triples
Suzuki TL 1000R front wheel and rotors
CBR 600 F4i brakes

The triples, forks and axle all work together fine but with the wheel on and the calipers on the rotors there is a gap, about 1/8 inch between the calipers and the mounting ears on the forks. Also the rotors seem to be too big because the holes on the calipers don't line up with the holes on the forks. I thought the tl 1000r used 320mm rotors, the same as the GSXR 1000. It seems like I need a wider wheel with smaller rotors, but I would like some input before I buy more wheels that may or may not fit.

Only the front from GSXR 1000 K6 (2006) with the triple tree from the same model will match, even the bearings are the same!!! I know that cause my mechanic has one in stock keep for me complete here in Greece, and it will cost me 1500€ euros .

Your problem is that you are using GSXR1000 forks. Get a set of 01 GSXR750 forks and you'll be just fine!

hey guys, I just managed to get a 01' gsxr 750 front end. and I was looking for alternative wheels I can use. you're saying that the wheel from a TL1000 will fit? does it matter which year TL? also, what's the best clip-on setup for that front end? I don't mean to threadjack, but the 01' gsxr750 wasn't mentioned in the knowledge base, this was the only relevant thread I could find.

I'm fond of my Swatt clip-ons, but they won't let me use the F4i master cylinder, as the riser piece interferes with the integral reservoir.

I'll keep them in mind. still no word about the TL rim? c'mon someone's got to know. any other issues that I should be aware of when using an 01' gsxr750 front end?

I don't know the answer to your question.. I got a GSXR wheel to avoid any possible conflict.

According to the EBC catalog the TL1000's from 97-03 use the same rotors as the 01 GSXR750, so it should work. Download the EBC catalog and refer to the "Streetbike Disc Buyers Guide" at the end of it. It's a great resource when doing this kind of investigation.

just thought I'd pass this on. on a local riding forum that I'm a member of, another member told me that in addition to the cbr929/954, the 05-06 cbr600rr's also have a gull wing shape that will allow you to mount aftermarket forks with the clip-ons above the top triple. I didn't know if we can confirm or deny this, but in case its news...
