Like I said before too bad for Haga Ferrari doesn't own the team Anyway I think the fans appreciate honest racing. And yes I know at the end of the day it's still a business. At least Haga was classy enough to say he didn't want any points that way.

Yeah, that race was nerve-racking enough w/o that punk fabrizio fouling things up. Its just racing. I actually got 2nd in the ccs twins championship I race due to a fellow racer dicing it out with me (rain race) when he had no shot at the title. But on that day I wasnt willing to crash fighting him so he beat me to the line & I lost the title by one point. I have also been waiting to tell that story so this thread was a great chance

When Nori was injured and unable to ride for the win Fabrizio did him a favor and took Spies out on the first lap at Brno, likely costing Spies 25 points. (I'm not saying he did it on purpose. I'm just saying.) It wouldn't have mattered what he did in the second race in Portugal because Spies had it covered, knew where he needed to finish to win and rode accordingly.
He (Fabrizio) did take five points Nori could have had by winning the first leg at Imola when Haga finished second.
Spies still would have won the championship.
The guy I can't figure out is Biaggi. The second race at Portimao was an abomination.

that vid is funny, I can see that tardozzi was likely upset at losing the championship but anyone with half a brain knows that you can't blame fabrizzio. Spies won race one, which he knew he had to do. Once Haga crashed out he knew that just finishing sixth would give him the championship and that's what he did. All the what if's are just sour grapes. Spies had far more problems this season than Haga and he still pulled it off.
Besides, everyone knows that your teammate is the first person you have to beat. There are no such thing as team orders in motorcycle racing and that is a good thing.

Oh yes there is team orders... I can dig up a few such incidents... But this time there clearly was none... And I like it that way...

It's each rider's responsibility to win his own race, not his teammate's....but then that brings us back to Nicky and The Chimp a few years ago.

Put it this way: Fabrizio helped Haga a helluva lot more than Sykes helped Spies. Would I want him on my team? Hell yes!

The clip was actually a bit mean to Davide Tardozzi. I met him a few times when he was racing WSB himself (in its early years, there was a round here in NZ), and a nicer fella you could not imagine.

Fabrizio was ahead of Haga on the last lap, wasn't Haga in third at the time they past the start/finish line and the boards. I believe Haga passed into second place on the lasat lap. Fabrizio would not have known that he was in second place. Besides it didn't matter. Spies won the title by 6 pts.
