Video of me at Cresson

Finally,

It took soo long for them to get me this file, but here it is. Two laps of me and my Hawk goin round the track. I've actually done two more track days since this video was made, but I didn't hold back too much. Corner speeds are good, but I notice that I brake a little early going into most of the curves. Anyway, it was fun and I pulled a power-wheelie at the end. Enjoy.

Interesting little fact: The first rider I pass is none other than Bill (CNI Dawg) !!!

Great stuff Loco. Suh-weeeeeeet. NICE wheelie to show them who's boss. Haruumph. Cresson looks like the track I'd want to break my track cherry rather than TWS.

Oh yeah, this thread is useless without sound. WTH? Was the vid bike being nice to follow you or is that a "service"?

The audio/visual wizards at RideSmart (yeah the same ones who needed 3 months to get me this DVD) couldn't figure out how to get the sound to last more than 5 secs so I didn't even bother ripping it. Its a shame too, because my TBR pipes should sound nice at full throttle!

Those are some nice leathers man!! You're lucky, on the track I ride they would've, (and have), given me a warning about the wheelie.:-? The only way I can get away with it is by doing a power wheelie entering the track. I just "TRY" to make it look natural, you know like an "accident".

and yeah superbling Cressen is a much better track to do a first day on, but even better is the new one in Houston, just my take on it.

I agree, any of the tracks in Texas are good, though, for new riders. The track at College Station (Texas World Speedway) is just a little faster than the others, because it feels bigger. It really doesn't matter, because you will learn so much within that first day, you'll feel ready to conquer any track.

well not every track I wouldn't suggest oak hill for anyone as a first track, it's ugly enough when your racing on it's bumpy and skitish traction

ha, at oak hill you have to watch out for cows and cow patties.
Personally, TWS is a great track. It was my first, so maybe I will always have a sweet spot for it. My first track, first race and first full on rain race. Cresson was very slick to me, but that was 7 years ago when the track was very new. Maybe it is better now. Hallett is great too, very coarse track, lots of elevation changes and no where to get going real fast so a good first or second track. The front straight is the only place to even get out of 3rd. At least at TWS you can get into the limiter in 6th gear.

gssbmm and loco, where do you live? I am in denton, tx.

No, I got married and have 2 kids now. Really freaks out the wife. I would love a track day at oak hill or TWS or even a day at MSR if I knew someone with a membership.

I don't know about memberships lol. but you may want to look at teaching for a track day org. thats what I started doing to get more time. if you can run any kind of race pace you can teach a level 1 class. texas track days I know is looking for instructors. they'll need people on the days that conflict with races.

That sounds like fun. Actually, I went to the Team Suzuki Advanced Endurance Race School in 1998 at TWS which is what got me into the whole racing thing. Michael Martin(from M4 exhaust) was the lead instructor as well as John Hopkins. It was a load of fun and learned a lot on the last session when they cut us loose and let us pass each other. I got to follow Martin around instead of a guy scared to death of his bike. I used to have 2 friends with memberships to Cresson and they were able to bring 1 friend whenever they went.(not a track day, just any day they were open and not having an event.)

Very nice run, Loco! The wheelie at the end only shows true boss! Good job! I only noticed a couple things. Your lefts are better than your rights early in the run but are almost equal by the end. Longer heats may bring better balance early in short heat runs. Two-thirds through the tape when you encountered the two other riders you had a mile to take the slower one in the first turn. Nice guy that you are - next time - fuse is short. Pull the trigger going into the turn. Overall I would say excellent! Bravo on a good run! Very smooth, you're getting off the bike well.
