motoczys c1
i've been following the building of the C1. Michael lives in portland and his studio is about a mile from my house. he's a really nice guy & has had an open house to view the bike & has spoken to our motogroup about the bike and his philosophy of building it.
i was happy to see his motorhome pull in at the motocorsa trackday event yesterday. ( still have trackday grin )
i've heard a lot of bikes but NOTHING sounds like this bike ( and it's GP loud ) !
anyway here is a couple of pix:
this is version 2, i have a bunch of v1 pics i can post if people are interested.

I have been casually keeping up with him and his adventure for some time.
Tons of respect and admiration for the guy.
I got to see it at Laguna Seca in '05 and have a big poster of it hanging in my garage now.
I hope he has at least some measure of success.
Thanks for the pics.

Yeah, I looked a little further and found that out. It sounds brutal, though. They must have a big bang firing order or something. The compression sounds wicked, and the whole setup is just unreal. I want to see more/know more

I wonder what will happen to his project now considering MotoGP went to 800cc. I really wanted to see his machine run in moto GP, but i pray that his efforts won't go to waste and there will be some more news on it soon. It's a bitchin' bike though.

it will most likely run in superbike.
in hearing him speak pre & post rule change ( and maybe just as the project has moved forward ) the 'motoGP' word has been dropped. they are working hard now on getting the bike done and ready for sale.

Nope, like he said, it's a counter-rotating inline four. It's a four-stroke big-bang motor. It's one of the sexiest bikes i've ever seen. But i don't see how it could be in the superbike class because that class limits bikes to production bikes, right? I just don't understand why they don't just mill the cyclinders down and recreate another crankshaft to make it an 800cc engine. I really want to see this project succeed in the Moto GP.

i too would like to see it in the premier class but thats a lot of $$$. maybe if he gets more funding? i'll ask him about 800cc the next time i see him.

Michael Czysz is trying to sell the required production run at $100K/copy. I sure hope it works. He's got former Cosworth engine guys and Ohlins, Inc working for/with hm. This bike reminds me how much has been lost in motorcycling because big corporations made it so hard for innovative people to compete in the marketplace. 15 degree V4, Cylinders 1 and 3 inline, also 2 and 4. Three cams, middle one (intake) full length and driving both shorter exhaust cams. Man, this bike is SWEET!

Why are you blaming the manufacturers? They are contesting an AMA streetbike based series because what wins on sunday sells on monday. There are unlimited series the cyszy can race in with just their prototype. I think the AMA requirement is 50 streetbikes not 500 but still, at 100K/copy PLUS EPA certification, I think this is a pipe dream without major funding.
I think Micheal is a great dreamer, designer, and engineer but as a bike builder/race team chief he probably should hand the reigns over to someone more qualified, experienced, and great at fund raising.

The AMA does have a sliding scale on how many bikes have to be produced compared to how many bikes the manufacturer produces. Ducati, for instance, had to sell fewer 999Rs than Honda had to sell CBR-100RRs. They also let H-D run the VR-1000 that was only ever street-legal in Poland and didn't come close to any sort of production volume that a showroom racebike should be held to.
Also, WSB let the Proton run, and so far as I know not a single one of those was sold to the public.
I think Motoczys has a lot better chance of being able to run in WSB or AMA than they have of being competitive in MotoGP.

Anyone see the "Birth of a Racer" show, on HDT Turbo, about the Motoczysz C1 development? Very cool! Its on again today and next month...

I am so tired of seeing American Chopper and Biker Jerk Off on TV it would be cool if more stuff like this was on.
Anyhow I saw the C1 at Laguna in 05, it looks so F***in awesome in person. I hope they get to race it soon.
