I don't find it all that attractive, but it is about 5 (at least) years overdue.

We'll see. The article says it's shaft drive (yuck), but the "exclusive photo" aka MCN photoshop job looks to me like it has a chain guard behind the rear wheel.

If you click on the "blueprint" drawing it shows a chain drive, too.

Admittedly we don't know the true origin of the photos, but there are some significant differences between the VFR1000F and VFR1000GT model photos. The F model has an upswept tailpipe end, lower windsreen and solo saddle. The GT model has the taller ST1300 electric windscreen configuration, a low tailpipe end to avoid the integrated saddlebags and a dual saddle. It will be interesting to see if these configurations hold up when it finally appears...

I'm ready to sell my 07 ST1300 now...i'm such a bike ****...

I love it (except it's not yellow).. everything but the GP style exhaust ... I really liked the undertail exit..

I guess you cant have it all.. otherwise you'd have nothing to customize.

If you go to the VFR board (vfrdiscussion.com), they have a guy from MCN Europe on there who has offered up a one page eVersion of their article on it. In the article they say the information is gleaned from sources inside Honda and that the new bike will be debuted on October 7th...they also are claiming the photos are as close to real as anyone is going to get, given their source(s). We'll have to wait and see...obviously the VFR board is going nuts...

I was reading the comments on the bottom of that link and i guess i'm still up in the air about it. MCNews has always had some pretty outrageous yet tempting articles of upcoming bikes. I'll believe it when i see it in production. I do, however, love the idea of a V-5 engine in a motorcycle. I don't think it deserves to be in a Sport-tourer but Honda probably knows far far more than a stupid guy like me, lol. Great idea though! My 2 cents...

I'll believe that when it's on the showroom floor. MCN has pulled stuff like that for years.

Absolutely drop dead gorgeous but I doubt very much that it would be shaft drive although the sport version may be chain and the GT version could be shaft, Honda has done this before with the CB900 and CB900f series in the early 80's, if so it's likely to be very pricey. I'm also not sure what need it fills as the VFR crowd seems to be very happy with their latest incarnation. It may well be MCN having fun with us, I guess we'll know next month.

As for me I'm still hoping for the VTR1200 with FI, real USD forks and a 6.5 gallon tank!! Hell if Honda builds that I'll buy 2 find a rent a racer and go take some serous DMG money next season!!

I'd be very interested in the torque and weight specs...

VFR's are nice little bikes and I figure if the power to weight ratio is right with only a few mods it could make a really nice ride

awesome looking bike. it would make a good looking sss bike IMO. i think i would rather have the superhawk 1200cc concept that ive seen though. i would also much rather have an RC8 because those just kick ***.

It's sweet the way they were able to stop the main portion of the frame at the valve cover, lol. No sense it taking to the front after all.....

I've owned 3 shaft drives and experienced no driveline reaction problems, but they are heavier. (2 Hondas and a BMW) Plus no chain hassles. The old Yamaha Viragos squated like crazy under acceleration though.

My problem with the V5 is...Does it have that V twin rumble?

Here's some addional reading material on the bike - and unique two piece frame design. Sounds plausible. And check out the new VTR (250!)

No doubt the VFR line is WAY overdue for an upgrade, but don't believe it until you see an official press release from Honda.

MCN has quite a reputation for Speculative Photoshop Horse Excrement.

However, if they DO make a V-5, I want one!

Is it me or do you have to completely take the bike apart to pull the motor? No frame rails, steering head bolted to motor, rear bolted to motor.

Im just thinking what if you grenade the motor at say 13,000 or so does that mean the bike breaks in half or just starts draggin the oil pan ....

Looks like they are trying to rebranding the the VTR 250 (mini monster) and have added FI to it. But the article wrongly states that America has had this for years. Maybe the Canadians have? I wonder if it will finally be for sale here in the USA too?

They need to get some of the R & D money they are spending for these Engines so why wait. That current MotoGP 800should be a drop in to the production line somewhere.

It is real and will look real close to the computer generated drawing. We will all see it on October 7th, unless pictures leak out sooner than that.
