Two stupid questions...
I don't have a factory owners manual and my Haynes hasn't arrived yet, so two quick and dirty questions for yall.
#1, what's the recommended octane on this motor? My old bike took 87.....I've been filling the hawk with 89 and riding it gentle because I wasn't sure if it required 93 like some of the sportier bikes do...
And #2, what are the front and rear sprocket tooth counts? And a stock chain is 530 correct?
I've been trying to find a +2 rear around but haven't had much success, found one on ebay but they sold it with a 520 conversion and sorry but, there is no way I'm putting a 520 chain on a bike with this much torque that's ridden daily! You guys know where I might find one?
I know I'm asking a hell of a lot of questions, but I dont know much about this bike yet and Im trying to find out all I can so I can start working on it. Thanks

520 is fine as long as you get a good quality chain. Is is cheaper than a 530, has less weight, and less parasitic losses. What this means to you is a tiny bit more power. Get good sprockets. Usually it's not the chain that wears out first, it's the sprockets. Usually the front since it sees 3 times more contact than the rear.

I've had the 520 conversion on mine for almost 2 years now with no problems, just stay away from Vortex sprockets. I used a Sprocket Specialists after I chewed up the vortex and have had much better results with about 16 track days on the chain. Oh and yes I do wheelie it on occassion too.
