Is It True that '98-'02 VFR 800 Mirrors Mount Easlly?
Is it true that '98-'02 VFR 800 mirrors mount easlily onto a VTR?
I would like to avoid having to either move my elbows in or move my head to one side in order to see effectively with the mirrors.
Thanks for your help.

Re: Is It True that '98-'02 VFR 800 Mirrors Mount Easlly?
The mount spacing is way off. I tried. Now you could probably try to use the superhawk base with a vfr stalk and mirror end. I did that with R1 mirrors; not perfect but better.
BTW, USA VFR generations are 86-87, 90-93, 94-97, 98-01, and 02-present. To further muddy the waters, the mirrors for the 98-01 gen are different between 98-99 and 00-01 models. The difference being that the latter (commonly referred to as Y2K mirrors) are more "modern" looking without the plastic "condom" on the mirror stalk typical of nearly all 90's era honda's.

Thanks for the information.
I'll look into retrofitting the "Y2K" mirrors...Who wants a "condom" on their mirror anyway?
cheers,

Re: Is It True that '98-'02 VFR 800 Mirrors Mount Easlly?
I looked into this issue a little more and, by using a tape measure, found that the longer, condom-free '05 Kawasaki ZX-10R mirrors match the bolt pattern of the VTR and should mount directly, without my having to do anything to the base.
It seems that there are two common mounting bolt patterns for sport bike mirrors: 1-1/2 " center-to-center (as on the VTR) and 1-3/4 " center-to-center (as on most other Honda sport bikes). The ZX-10R has the same 1-1/2 " center-to-center pattern that the VTR has, and the longer, more useful, ZX10-R mirrors should mount easily onto the VTR, with no mods whatsoever. They even have the same style of cap nuts as those on VTR mirrors.
I'll post a follow-up message after I mount the ZX-10R mirrors and will also post a pic, if they indeed work as I hope they will.
cheers,

I have R1/R6 mirrors, and they mounted directly also. They allow too much fore/aft movement, but I added a stop to the pivot (under the rubber cover) and they work great. I can still see part of my elbow, but also have a lot more visibility behind me.
An excellent add-on.
