Transforming my stocker's pipes
So today I was bored so the old pipes are getting a retrofit. I gutted the insides. The built my own perforated inside much like an aftermarket pipe, packed the new shorter body with exhaust packing. Then I high mounted them. I am only done with one side sofar, I ran out of packing. What do you think?

alright, finished with the fab work just need to polish it all up, I test rode it and holy crap it pulls like a freight train now, just needs a little tweek on the low end, has a flat spot right at 3000 rpm.
To answer a few of the questions I had some steel perf 1/8 on 3/16 I believe, that I then made a tube out of. I then cut the stock exhaust in the middle and cut off the end cap. Then cut hammered cursed my way through getting the insides out leaving me with a stubby shell, and a overly large end cap. I then cut from a piece of stainless sheet metal a disc to narrow the id of the end cap down about a 1/2 inch. I welded a piece of tube to the inside of that for the perf to slip over. Then I cut another disc from the sheet metal for the lower part of the can. Cut a hole in it for another tube which the perf connects too as well. Now with all the parts made I wrapped the perf which I welded to the endcap. The reason I ran out of packing was because I only have a 2 inch perf tube running inside of a 4.75 in shell so there is a fair amount of volume in there. Then I welded up the can which I then mounted to my custom made mid pipes that I was able to scavange from a wrecked audi exhaust, cut here weld there and I am done, easy enough if you have the tools.
I only have my cell so the previous pic is a teaser I will get some more shots up hopefully tomorrow. It sounds about like a d & d exhaust noise wise.

easily dropped 15 to 20 pounds judging by how much the left overs weigh. It would be hard for me to build a kit considering this was a scrap yard build. Hopefully in the near future I can purchase a mandrel tubing bender for the shop, then it would be a definite possibility. Even a possibility to just sell high mount mid pipes so someone can turn any exhaust into high mount

it will all depend on the diameter of the holes on inner sleive. i've repacked pipes a bunch of times... usually when i think they're getting louder. the silent sport packing is by far the best & easiest to use ( it's loose fill and you just stuff it in ). the wrap does blow out but i think it gets coated with exhaust and then looses it's ability to dampen the sound first.
of course now your going to have to walk the bike down the road or risk waking the baby !!!

I have been training her to 1. Sleep through it (now more of a challenge) or 2. to wake up smile and go back to sleep. Today I rolled in and my wife said when she heard the bike she stopped crying and after I shut it off started again, how's that for training, a cry stopper.
