Measured cylinder bores last night on the donor motor and was glad to see they are not outta round or tapered and are we'll within the 0.10mm max specs. Both bores look to average around 97.98mm after taking x & y readings top/middle/bottom.

Additionally, I measured the JE Piston and they came in at 97.90mm about 0.02mm smaller than the stock pistons, so no clearance issues in the bores with 0.08mm difference, which is also we'll within the 0.20mm max spec.

Got a big box of parts from Ron Ayers last night and just figured out that the inlet & exhaust valve stem seals are different

I ordered 8 inlet not realizing there were 2 part numbers...

Should I re-order 4 exhaust valve stem seals or can these bad boys be used interchangeably?

Build is slow cuz waiting for parts, but no rush I'm still riding w/ stock motor approaching 27K miles

I have new 4 exhaust valves (14721-MBB-000 $167.56) and 4 new inlet valve stem seals (12209-MBB-003 $28.32) all ordered from Ron Ayers and still in the bags unopened that I can sell ya cheaper than they can and you wont have to wait 4 weeks for shipping either How's $150.00 delivered sound?

Send me a PM and I'll give you my PP addy...RC

New exhaust valves are a good idea. They tend to get pitted quickly, which makes them transfer heat less effectively, which makes them get pitted faster...

Might as well replace them while you're in there.

RC has a set because he decided to install OS valves.

hehehe, if da shoe fits

That's not far off! Mine weighs in at 11.8 lbs...one big baby...couldn't hardly believe it was so heavy

If you have a stock flywheel my advise to one and all is to lighten it cuz with a crank this heavy the heavier flywheel is overkill...RC

Yeah, a v-twin crankshaft is heavy. You don't have pistons-rods 180 degrees out of phase to counterbalance. i4 cranks can be balanced independently of pistons and rods. V-twin cranks have to counterbalance the rods and pistons, etc.

Some day (next winter?) I'll build an engine with Carillo rods and correspondingly lightened crank.

I need to get back to my analysis of this problem. I made some more progress a while back. It got difficult and time-consuming to present it in a form that was comprehensible to non-engineers, and I got busy with other stuff.

Is 'a lot' accurate enough. I didn't weigh mine when it was out but I remember it being pretty hefty.

Where did you find those? Care to disclose what you paid?

A lot is right! I'd have mine lightened and add light weight rods if I had another $2K burning a whole in my pocket

Roger Ditchfield tracked them down for me from the land of the dragons and they cost more than anybody in there right mind would pay

Okay, though I'm not an engine guru like you guys , I have been into my motor by force, not by choice. So I need some education about what the Moriwaki valves have over the OEM - weight? seat cut?

By the way, I was thinking 10 lbs. on the crank.

WOW. That might be the best air/fuel reading I've ever seen. So when do we start a pool betting on the new HP output. I bet 116.

Chickenstrip, The OS valves are 0.5mm larger on exhaust and 1.0mm larger on intake which allow you to force more air/fuel down it's cullet! Yes, new seat will have to cut in moving them out.

MC Leather, 116 would be nice! I'm not holding my breath, but would be very happy with that...RC
