The swingarms I've seen are;

RC-51 (braced)
CBR1000 (braced)
VFR750 (single sided - looks awesome)

BTW - its nice to see an Italian want something different than a Ducati

8541Hawk will become famous soon enough
You can also brace a stock swingarm by grafting on the brace from a CBR900RR

Thanks for the fast response!

Can you help me for understanding better how is possible?

(not all Italians are fanatic of Ducati... it's a good bike but i prefer a new Aprilia RSV4 than a 1098...)

SP-2 although the SP-1 arm can be made to fit also (different axle size), going on memory for this.

900RR swingarm brace works too (see pic in my gallery for an idea)...

you need a caliper bracket from a 900RR, and the caliper stay on the swingarm must be relocated (old one cut off and 900RR bracket welded in same position as on 900RR arm). Fairly simple stuff.

Yeah the 900rr brace is by far the easiest and least expensive option. I no longer have pics on my computer but just do a seach under "900rr swingarm" or "braced swingarm" and you'll see some pics and how to's. Steve G's post has some good pics.

The RC51 SP2 swingarm is as close to bolt on as is possible...

You will need a rear wheel that has a 25mm axle (20mm stock VTR) a CBR 600RR wheel is a good option... Also the caliper and mount plus axle from the RC...

Then the only custom part is the lower triangle link between shock, arm and pivot/engine mount...

So I'm thinking about swapping out my swingarm for a CBR 1000 swingarm. Is there any modifications (cutting/welding) that needs to be done, or is this a straight up bolt on?

A friend of mine is offering to sell me his 2005 CBR1000RR swingarm. Has any swapped out their swingarm for a 1000RR? If so, I'd love some info.

It looks as though the Varadero swing arm will also fit.
The advantage is that it seems around 10% longer, so will help drag starts at the expense of handling.

I haven't tried the conversion, but sizing against a mate's bike it looks ok.

I've just buy a CBR 900 swingarm on Ebay!!!

Anyone have a "how-to" guide for fit on the standard swingarm? I think I have to cut the brace and welding on the SH swingarm...

You also need a 900rr rear brake bracket as the caliper will hit the brace with the stock set up. Which means you also need to change the mount on the inside of the swingarm as the VTR uses a female boss and a 900rr uses a male boss.

Then you will also need to relieve the front of the brace so it conforms to the contour of the shock cut out in the VTR swingarm.

The last pics are of mine tacked up to check the relief for proper clearence before final welding.

Thanks for your pics 8541Hawk!!!

I have modified my brake bracket whit a "bottom caliper" solution, and installed a Brembo caliper... so i have the upper part of swingarm totally free... I think that don't need of a bracket mods...
I hav'nt a pics of the mod, but here you can look something...

But another question... how cut the brace? You have cut in the welding points, or down the welding points of the 900' swingarm?

Thanks!

I cut in and tried to just cut the weld material and not the brace itself, then it just poped off with a little tap with a hammer
