Question Stock '01 996 Track ET Results ?

What can we expect from totally stock and 2001 and 2003 996 Superhawk bikes rolling off the line through the 1/4 mile ? We are not hardcore drag racers.

Depends on your weight. Some of the mags tested low 11's as their best times. I think someone on the forum got into high 10's.

I believe CW got a 10.91 out of a 98 VTR, and seem to recall another getting 10.88. Most, though, have them in the low to mid 11's.

Shawn Higbee did a 10.83 on a 1998 test bike for Motorcycle Online.

Yeah that's the best time I've seen. Cycle World did an 11.01 I believe when it won the best streetbike or whatever shootout in '98. And like every other Honda model that lasts a few years unchanged it seemed to get a little slower every time it got tested (?)

Okay...so does this sound about right ? Lacking seat time on a conservative rollout, sliding the throttle to wide open in 2nd gear I might look for mid-high 11's for starters .
Do you guys figure 120-125MPH thru the traps in 4th gear ?

I would guess high 11's or low 12's. Your trap speed seems about right.

Wow 10.7 is the fastest I've heard of one of these things going down the 1/4, nice going!

AMF, did you start out in first or second gear? I would think second would only work for dirt bikes or on street bikes with slipper clutches, unless you dump the clutch from redline into a burnout with just the right tires. I dunno. I've never dragged my 'Hawk, at least not more than a handful of times on an abandoned road.

no i started in 1st gear. just slip the hell out of the clutch, rpm's are about 2500 when i launch. anything higher it pulls the wheel up to much. last friday i went down the first time with a fork strap, didnt get to many passes, so i wasn't used to it. it was also humid as hell, best i could get was a 11.2. prob once i get used to the strap and in good air i expect a mid 10. we'll see though. I didn't buy the bike for the drags though, so i dont expect it to go very fast stock 600's now a days are deep into the 10's, lol.
