Stick Coil Vid

Stick Coil Vid
I finished the cbr600 stick coil install on the Hawk and made a vid of the spark difference vis a vis the stock coil. It's hotter, maybe twice so but I can see why the bike will run stronger and smoother. Ha! I can't put it back on the road to test because I broke the delicate choke guide holder thingy on the front carb. Tried to super glue it and succeeded once before but not today and so ordered the Polaris part 3130199 (hope it's metal) and will mod it to fit. 2 for $40- ya, too much but they won't break. Stick coils measure 1.3 ohms across the primaries and 13k secondaries whereas the stock coils measure 0.6 and 18k ohms respectively. So, maybe there's more windings on the primaries and hence the hotter spark. See for yourself-------Click

Nice little vid. No ones shot a comparison vid of the difference before, so I think you are the first. When you ride the bike you will notice the difference in power straight away. The bike will also require less cranking to start.

To update, the stick coils work just as they should but I don't notice a rise in mpg or power. Bike may be smoother but can't swear to it. It's a fun little project and I'm not finished with it yet.

The power increase is variable as it depends on the condition of your HT leads to begin with. Mine must have been old and tired so when I done the Stick coils I noticed it straight away. A few months later I didn't notice t anymore as I got used to it.
I still think the stick coils are a good move though. Eliminate the HT leads, better cranking and as a bonus save a little weight. A good value for money mod.
