RC51 Shock Swap...

Re: RC51 Shock Swap...
The bottom mount is a different design.
I've tried R1, R6, and Ducati 900 (blashphemy!) shocks with a MUCH heavier spring from a Fox TC with limited success. The R1/fox spring is pictured in my avatar.
I tried these specifically because they have easily removeable springs (no compressor needed) and they were very cheap except the duc (basically new). These were all shorter and needed a spacer since the VTR shock is one of the longest around. You need to be concerned with the reservoir location and it's relation with the battery box and/or frame. The R1 reservoir bottom juuust touched my hugger on full extension.
They were better than stock but ultimately not ideal as I was having to run the adjustments in the upper range (solo, 165lbs). Currently I'm running a penske from a 954, also with a spacer, that's much better.
Ultimately, I want to have it revalved specifically for me and add the hi-low speed damping option to it.
