Max Engine Displacement??

Just wondering what the biggest size the engine could be bored out to? It's probably been discussed before but I haven't seen it.

Thanks for any input

Not a popular topic with this bike but can be done. I think +2mm is the biggest available displacement pistons. The sleeves might handle bigger but the pistons would have to be custom made. JE makes +2mm pistons and they are 11.5:1 vs the stock 9:1. I haven't heard of a stroker crank and rods for this bike yet.

2mm would increase displacement to 1068CC. That sounds like fun...

Hehe. Funny guy.

I am building a supercharged '88 MR2 engine for a guy's track car. The stock heads aren't very well finished on that engine (in fact they're really bad), so I really think this thing's going to scream. I'm unshrouding the valve area in the CC's for low-lift flow improvement and reshaping the floors of the ports, decreasing the restriction around the valve guides and blending the bowls to the seats.

I'll post some photos when I get the head finished. I'm sure of you will be interested.

I would be very interested in seeing the pictures and I know you have been busy but - you know - opportunity knocks. I would be especially interested in the before pictures if you say they are as bad as they are. I always liked those MR2's! Good luck!

I will put before pictures, so you'll see what I mean. I'm used to working on Honda stuff. Their car head ports look a lot like the bike stuff. Really good right out of the box.

The MR2 engine was way ahead of it's time in '87. I drove my girlfriend's dad's brand new MR2 in '87. I can remember dropping the throttle to get some oversteer then flooring it to keep it sliding. What a cool car! She wasn't with me. Good thing.
