There’s such forum good will here that I don’t know what I can say besides good luck.
I did a saddle sore on a Hawk GT a few years back. It has some of the same limitations as the SH – namely limited range – and a few others tossed in for good luck. Check out the IB site for suggestions, but my golden rules for LD riding are:
1) Stay hydrated: Use a camelback if you have one. If you sip your water rather than chug it at gas stops, you’re less likely to have to stop to ****.
2) Have backups: Gloves, pants, etc… and parts that may / will go. Make sure you have a few shops singled out along the way. If you will need a tire at the end half way point of this adventure, call ahead and order one now.
3) Stay comfortable: I would bring a beaded seat cover, a gel cover, and a sheep cover and switch them out every few gas ups. You can get all this at Wal-Mart and retrofit it. Wear seamless gel bicycle shorts instead of underwear and bring several pair in case you get wet.
4) Forget a tent: You may be able to get into a sleeping bag with the timeframe you’re talking about, but you won’t get into a tent. I fell asleep in at CT rest area under a picnic table at around 4 a.m.
5) Bring extra gas: You wouldn’t believe how many stations are closed after mid-night, especially in rural America. I use MRS fuel bottles. You can’t carry a lot, but they’re metal and seal well.
Pack even and low and all that. Make sure the stuff you need to get to often are at the top and put some extra cash in a shoe. Tell you what, if I were doing this, I’d follow the IB rules and get another sticker and plastic license plate – but I am an absolute slave to fashion

Thanx a lot crashrat. There were a few specific things in there I pulled out an or forgot an just reminded me lol it already gonna b a long trip but ontop of that I'm not getting off work till about 5 hrs b4 trip time after back to back 17.5 hour shifts with only a 6hr break between shifts(my boss is a ******* slave driver) so even if I only make it there crash an out an take off work so I can sleep. I'm still gonna call bragin rights lmao

LOL! You, sir, have ***** in ample supply.
Around hour 20, when you're horse from singing TV show tunes and the shapes on the side of the road start looking like ghosts of old girlfriends... Well... You'll learn something about yourself anyhow.
Remember that it's always better to crash for a nap or call it a day than press on to beast the clock. The clock will still be there when you get back on the road.
Atlanta is one of the worst cities in America for motorcyclists. Only Boston and Washington are more deadly, IMHO. Orlando sucks, but those people are human. Atlanta and Boston commuters have given all that up. If you haven't experienced rush hour in one of these places, count yourself lucky.

Lmao yeah I can already feel split persona starting out of the thought of mental bordem. The mp3 playar is by far my fav invention otherwise I seriously probly wouldn't go lol I could have a bald tire with steel showing an as long as I had my mp3 I'd probly still try it.

I have done an Iron Butt 1000. We did it in 18 hours running pretty much 75 mph the whole way. (not on the Superhawk, but VTX 1300 with Ultimate seat.) Believe me, it takes a lot out of you that you don't realize. You have got to really stay alert. Just mentally it will take alot. If you have only riden 78 miles as the most at one time, in my opinion DON'T DO IT. If you can put it off for awhile, go out and get in some 300+ miles rides in. If you do decide to do it now, be careful and if you start feeling tired, STOP !!!!!

Thanx man an thanx to everyone else as well I've gotten a way huger an helpful response then I thought. Really at this point its just waiting to get home from work tomorrow am go threw the check list I was able to put together thanx to all of you an start smashing on some road

Be careful with the sleep thing, please. I lost a good friend of mine less than a month ago because an 18 year old kid was working doubles and fell asleep at the wheel. I have fallen asleep on the SH, it is possible...

Well brothers, its about 2:20 my directions are laminated(with scotch tape lol) an taped to my gas tank. Just filled my bike an gas can(side note walmart has these litter sized stainless steel water bottles for 5$ fits perfect in the drink holder of a book bag, there in the camping section. So guess I'm kinda riden around with a minni pipe bomb on my back lmfao just thought about that o-well to late now) an its time to get that first 110 miles under my belt before gas stop 1 of of about a million hahaha. So here I go wish me luck an thanks for all the help.
Be safe out there bye-bye for now

my only advice is to check the route for gas stations, the SH has got a small tank and those 2 giant carbs like to suck gas. Also works out well that about the time you need gas is also a good time for a 10 min stretch break. Other than that, it's a Honda, so just ride it. 750 miles in one day is about my longest.

Probably too late for this guy, but DRINK WATER. Lots of it. It's easy to get dehydrated during these long trips, and you don't realize it until it's too late and you're cramping up, dizzy, and have a horrible headache.
I did 300 miles, then a track day (200 miles), then another 300 miles over 3 days, and I was extremely uncomfortable by the end. It was over 100 degrees each day, but still . . . I lost 7 pds in three days, even drinking all the water (and gatorade) that I could.

Wow that's a lot of. Post in a 110mile stretch thank you guys so much. Just stoped for first fill up(I love my blackberry lol) *RW* wats a "cager". Its pretty warm out chuging monsters at the moment but I'll switch to gatorade in a bit. My hand is killing me allready even threw gel gloves. Just cut finger holes in a sock an gonna wear it under my gloves for a little more padding. Other than that things are goin great. So after this am I still a newb or just a newb who happend to ride a grand in a day lmao
