Talking Installed D&D exhaust

The exhaust shipped fast from D&D in Texas. Customer service was great and the exhaust sounds Awesome!!! I would say it is well worth the money to put on aftermarket exhaust as it is a huge difference on the Vtwin. Also D&D was the cheapest I found; that is if you want "new" exhaust from a manufacturer.

Everyone was saying that D&D is "obnoxious" I find it completely and utterly the opposite and so does everyone at my work. The exhaust has a deep throaty growl and it sounds spectacular.

So this is just for everyone that is looking for a good aftermarket exhaust.

This sounds like a commercial for D&D.... anyways I am happy with it!!

You bought yours straight from D&D? What part number? High mount of low?
Pictures please??????

I'd love to buy local,,, but i did not see them listed at first glance from there site.. Once I downloaded the catalog I found the listing... no metion of mounting place though.

Really looking for high mounts... seems many do not like that, so most are low mount option only.

Thanks

I don't believe D&D ever made high mounts-I've never seen them. They did make a cool megaphone exhaust for a short while. If you want higher D&D cans though they will work with the chrome Jardine midpipes that are no longer made if you can piece everything together.

Thanks Cpt'n.. Thats what i was afraid of....dang it. I really do not NEEEEEED to replace mine, I have just a slight scuff, and a 2-5mm inward bend on one pipe from where the bike was laid over on to the cement while being moved in the garage. No one notices it but me,,,, but darn it,, I know it;s there.. And I get mad at the person who did it every time I walk up on the bike....

Maybe some D&D's with custom mid pipes...??/

I bought it straight from D&D; No they are not listed on their site. But I called customer service and they do have them. They are only low mount, the same position as stock. They look really good, I will go home today and take pictures and post them. They have Aluminum, black, and carbon fiber. I bought the aluminum.

Talking

I have a set that came with my bike, jardine RT-1 were installed allready. Just had to put the D&Ds on though, they sound awsome. The D&Ds were a little loud so I made a call to them and the tech sugested repacking the pipes. They said they have revamped/upgraded the packing so they "burn out" so quickly. The new packing did the trick and they sound perfect.
D&D customer service is great!!!!!!

Side note; When I installed the D&Ds after repacking I put them on my Jardine high mount mid-pipes. Just turned the can mounting bands 180deg and presto high mount D&Ds.

No need for custom midpipes, Erik. You can use the Jardine mids directly avail from Jardine for $90 each. Use the stock header and the regular brackets from D&D to hang the cans from the subframe. The D&D people are pretty cool and they are Texans. That '98 Interceptor I turned this spring had a D&D Carbon on it and it was nothing short of real sweet.

Maybe there is something wrong with your pipes?? Mine sound really good, I actually do not think they are loud... more like a low grumble. Repack them??

Yeah, they're blown out. It's Nascar loud when the packing goes. It's semi-obnoxious on the VFR - you can see the liquified packing leaking out of the lower end cap. The Superhawk would be deafening also a potential fire hazard.

505.00 dollars plus shipping, which I think was around 50 dollars to Alaska...
I will correct myself and say that they are not the cheapest and instead say they are the least expensive, because they are well built and they look and sound nice.

Polish them with a good metal polish. You'll be suprised how much they'll shine up.

Post up pics. Unless you ordered them new I'll bet the midpipes aren't from D&D... Like I said I test fit D&D cans to Jardine mids and they're a perfect fit. And I've seen several other superhawks running that setup. Another "high mount" option is to use high mount hanger brackets and rotate your low mount exhaust up for a "low to high" look. I posted up when I tried it awhile back with a low mount set of hindles.

You can wet sand and polish the aluminum perfectly smooth and they would look exactly like chrome.
