GMD Computrack Triple Clamps

Anyone had any experience having these installed on the VTR with the different offset/steering angle/trail that they provide and if so what's your feedback vs the stock set up?

Well on a similar note, check this out... Expensive, but you can adjust the offset...

For people with swapped front forks... not me though at that price...

The GMD computrack website discusses the availability of the clamps but doesn't show them specifically. The adjustable clamps change the offset and hence trail on the VTR. They set your bike up with their "sweet numbers" which ideally include the clamps as apparently that set-up needs to ideally be changed. I think they go for about $700.

I have a set of Attack Triple clamps for a RC51 I'm gonna use on my current build.... they are about 700-800 as well... you can get different "cups" to change the offset from 1 mm to 5mm...... I'm going to use them with a 3mm offset to get the stock front fork setting back in place with my RC setup.

They aren't cheap, but I got mine with a set of forks as a package for 500 total, so I couldn't pass them up.

Attack clamps are really nice. I've used them before with great results!

I'm going to do something like that.

I couldn't find my old offset readings, but I was just having a conversation about offsets for the RC51.

I think the RC51 offset was 5 mm less than the stock VTR. I lenghened the rear shock by about 10 mm, which steepens the head angle. The RC51 offset gave a little more trail at the steeper head angle. Steering effort was reasonably light. I didn't have the funds to experiment any further.

this is a really good, clear presentation of the various chassis geometry and suspension effects on a motorcycle:

I've seen the VTR / RC trail difference anywhere between 3mm to 5mm.... depends on where you get your info on the dims..... I'll check through my stuff.. I think it may be in the manuals (hopefully)...

when I measured my offsets doing the swap I got 29mm for the RC51 triple and 33.5 for the superhawk. I think the SH has a steering angle stock of 24.9 degrees. Using the chart above as a rough guide, AND if we maintained stock ride height trail would increase by around 5-6mm. But as steering angle is altered by raising and lowering the front end, that has to be accounted for also. What I'm not sure is how much of that added trail we can lose when raising the fork tubes. I don't recall that raising the forks 10mm changes the steering angle by more than 0.2-0.4 degrees, but I can't find a calculator/formula for that either. I'm betting someone knows that info. Still it doesn't take drastic changes in rake to reduce trail by a noticeable amount and coupled with some increased rear ride height probably gets it quite close to stock or even beyond.

I would like to have an adjustable offset and experiment with the changes on the track. Apparently, a few millimeters of offset change produces noticable changes in steering effort on one end and stability on the other.

I thought my VTR was great. I look forward to seeing how a fully dialled in RC51 works. The development is at least half the fun.
