Finally did my RC51 brake upgrade
Couldn't have been simpler really. And I'm really happy with the result. It took me about an hour to trim the first caliper. And less than a minute to do the second (owing to my extrordinary talent for eyeball pattern transfer. :wink I used a drill press and an inexpensive side mill from Harbor Freight.
The whole job was a little over three hours and I could do it again in under two.
I'd recommend this to anyone.

Are the RC51 brakes better than the gixxer's 6 piston calipers? Anyone tried both? Anyways, I have all the braking I need right now and the feel is excellent, can't ask for more really. I even have stock pads in my calipers, next time I change them, I will put EBC pads, and that will even improve them more.

I was never unhappy with the stockers. I just decided to try these. They're clearly better (alot) but with the same balanced feel.
But I don't generally believe in modding unless you're trying to solve a problem. This was mostly for fun.

Clipon realignment
Undertray
2 Bro CF lowmounts
remote carb balance tubes
fork springs
rejetting
the brakes
RC trim clips
Probably some other little stuff I can't remember.
But I've been riding for 33 years. I'm also a school trained bike mechanic and a former service manager. As of about six weeks ago, I now run an MSF school for a local community college. And I do corporate development for one of the biggest charity rides in the country, starting next Wednesday. This week I'm enjoying rehabing the '79 XS650 I just bought for my wife.
So name a mod, from suspension to engine to cosmetic. I've probably done it on some bike sometime. And I probably will again.

Nice Jim, I knew you had it in you! I just celebrated my 28th motorcycling anniversary. Self trained on motorcycles, worked on my yz80 when I was 8, (dad said "if your gonna break'em, you gotta learn how to fix'em"). But I had formal training for cars, keep the school going you can never have enough training.

That's amazing but I'm sure it's true, everyone thinks they know more than they actually do. Even the best guys at the track still do racing school, nomatter how good you are you can never know everything.
