Stevebis, where did you get your water pump? (& how much ?)

I can see the benefit if it cools the bike better. May be the holy grail of hawk cooling

 

Here in Australia I fitted a Davies Craig Electric water pump.

It causes the bike to run at a more constant temperature as there is no longer a thermostat in the system.

I also removed the water pump drive gear and chain so in theory the motor has less work to do.

It still allows operation of the cooling fan should the bike get hot in traffic, however since fitting the pump my bike runs around the 80 degree celcius mark and the fan has never come on.

I have done about 6000 miles with this set up and to date everything is fine.

The biggest problem was getting hoses and adaptors to fit.

I have also fitted an over ride switch, but don't use it.

why did I do it? more through wanting to, than having a problem, and the engine runs at a constant temp.

Where I am the temp varies from about 4 degrees C to 50 degrees C.

Google Davies Craig, its called the booster pump, I paid about $200 Aust for mine and another $100 in fittings, coolant and hoses.

Not trying to steal Stevebis thunder but I don't think he gets on here often.

I would not have attempted this without Steves input and photos.

That looks decent, though it is based on a brush system I suspect, the one Kenmoore is using is brushless pump motor and should theoretically last allot longer.
It is more expensive, but I think I would trust it more

I researched a lot before I did it, and Steves experience helped too!


I know a couple of young guys who have hot Japanese turbo cars, and they also recommended this pump, however they use it in a different application and told me that this pump is commonly used by a lot of their friends as well without any dramas.
