CBR 1000 rear wheel?

Can anyone here tell me what it takes to fit a 2005 CBR 1000 rear wheel on the SuperHawk?

Any advice is greatly appreciated.

Thanks

It's been covered... More than once... The CBR uses a 25 mm axle, the VTR a 20 mm axle...

There is not enough metal on the swingarm for enlarging the hole, so either you swap the bearings on the CBR wheel, or swap the swingarm to something that accepts the larger axle... My option for that should be pretty clear if you look at the link in my profile...

What he's saying in his own sweet way is to change your swingarm to a CBR one.

Then you miss the benefits of bracing!

cheaper to find the 900rr brace than to do the whole swap.unless you got the money to spend, than yeah, just know math, you gonna need it lol

I could be wrong but besides the weight ,they are both 3 spoke wheels
why bother .Unless your changing the swingarm as mentioned earlier.

Hey Saige know of anyone selling a cbr900rr brace lol

If it didnt cost so much for freight I would be all over it

reading your other post, you have the swingarm, rear brake, rear brake bracket, rim.
if thats the case, all you need is new bearings to give it a good once over and some math skills, and you should be good to go.
i believe that swingarm is shorter,so will have to work out those details, which im sure is in here some where.

erno-im thinking of cutting the brace off and bracket holder, just so i can get rid of it easier, since that is all we would use from it.
i would still sell it for around the same price, knowing those have gone for 80 to 100 on here.but shipping would be really cheap.
if i cut it up,i will let you know.

Actually, since the CBR 1000RR have a completely different suspension mount, he'll be needing a good welder, and a lot of math skills... It might actually be possible to make it work, but the geometry is completely wrong, so I didn't bother trying it, and opted to go for the SP swing instead...

yea,i started looking into it more, looking at pics and such, and wow lol,i like the idea of the 900rr brace better or the sp1 swinger.
with your setup, more proven and less guessing.
but of course, money and time,or very luck to get parts super cheap to do it.
i would most likely stick with the 900rr brace.

The only reason I was considering it is because I have a CBR wheel and I see its wider and lighter and I guess that doesn't necessarily mean I should do it. I looked over the swing-arm and its different enough (including the shock mount) that I think I'm better off selling it along with all the hardware & shock and using that cash to brace the one I have or find another conversion that actually works.

I see there's not much slack given to newbies here from some. I looked for swingarm mods etc and this site doesn't have much of a reference tool to find it quickly so I asked. My apologies to the more sensitive ego's in the group. I promise to ignore you and continue to ask if I need something.

Tweety - I found your swingarm swap thread by checking your posts in your profile. Thanks for the heads up - very good write up and very helpful.

Thanks people

There is nothing wrong in asking... Just search a little first, and get the top ten questions answered... Then I'll gladly help fill in the blanks, but repeateing the same ten questions over and over gets a bit boring...
