Brake Caliper Overhaul
Got my SS lines and want to clean up the calipers. Thought about replacing the seals while I'm at it and didn't know if you all suggest replacing/upgrading any thing else in the stock units. Also, what fluids are you using? Thanks.

I'd suggest you buy the seals at Ron Ayers.... my dealer wanted 9 dollar a seal and you'll need 8 seals for the pisotns alone!!! I think they are 3 and change at Ron Ayers... don't forget the little "O" Ring between the caliper halves as well.

If they're not leaking then there's no use replacing them. Mine are fine after 8 years and 40K. Just pull the pads, pump the lever so the caliper pistons are out about 1/2" or so (it's a good idea to use a thin piece of wood as a spacer, then remove it). Use strips of 1000 or 1500 grit sandpaper and brake cleaner to clean up any corrosion or grime built up on them, then push them back in.
The Valvoline DOT 3/4 synthetic stuff is good and is easy to find. http://www.valvoline.com/pages/produ...asp?product=51
